Bank of China issues Shaanxi's first new social security card for foreigners

In order to optimize the working procedures of foreigners in China and improve efficiency, Shaanxi Province officially integrated the work permits for foreigners with social security cards on January 15, 2025. This facilitates work and life for foreigners in Shaanxi.

On the morning of the 15th, Gam, a Nigerian teacher working in Shaanxi Province, received the first physical card integrating foreigners’ work permits and social security cards at a branch of Bank of China in Xi'an. "I am very happy that this card will provide more convenience for my work and life in this city!"

Foreigners’ work permits and social security cards are important documents for foreigners living in China. In the past, they needed to apply for them separately. Now foreigners no longer need to apply for physical work permits separately. The new card also covers financial functions such as payment, settlement and fund issuance. It provides convenient applications in many fields such as social security, medical treatment and medicine purchase, transportation, cultural tourism, and financial consumption for foreign card holders, and realizes the "one card for all" concept.

"Over the years, Bank of China Shaanxi Branch has accumulated certain experience in social security card services. This time, as the first batch of service organizations of the new cards, we strives to make every effort to ensure good service," said Su Xiaoning, deputy general manager of personal digital finance department of the branch.
