Freight train links up China's Lianyungang and Turkey's Istanbul

BEIJING, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- China-Europe freight train line from Lianyungang to Istanbul will see the rail transportation in the whole journey for the first time after a train of China Railway Express bound for Istanbul of Turkey left the China-Kazakhstan logistics base in Liangyungang city, east China's Jiangsu Province on November 28.

The freight train departing from China's Lianyungang will pass through Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia, to finally arrive at Turkey's Istanbul, further enhancing the logistics and transportation system linking Asia and Europe.

Containers on the train for the first time carried terminal positioning systems, making it possible to track the train in real time during the whole journey, introduced Liu Bin, manager of the China-Kazakhstan logistics base in Lianyungang city.

Operation of the railway line will be normalized, set to start on the 8th, 18th and 28th of each month, according to Liu. (Edited by Li Wenxin)
