BEIJING, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- An overseas roadshow for the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) kicked off in Auckland, New Zealand on Monday, according to the China International Import Expo Bureau.

A batch of enterprises in New Zealand participated in the roadshow and some have signed contacts of attending the second CIIE, with their exhibition area totaling more than 1,600 square meters.

At present, China has been New Zealand's largest trading partner. In the past ten years, the trade between China and New Zealand increased from 6.8 billion New Zealand dollars to 26.1 billion New Zealand dollars.

In the first three quarters of the year, the bilateral trade between China and New Zealand increased 20 percent on year.

The CIIE has provided a very good platform for New Zealand and Chinese enterprises to expand their trade, said Stephen Jacobi, executive director of the NZ China Council.

He suggested that the New Zealand government further strengthen cooperation with the Chinese government to encourage New Zealand enterprises to bring more competitive and better products to China.

Many New Zealand enterprises yielded fruitful results at the first CIIE held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, 2018.

According to official data from the China International Import Expo Bureau, a total of 45 companies from New Zealand participated in the first CIIE, with an exhibition area of more than 5,000 square meters. During the expo, the New Zealand enterprises reached an intentional turnover of more than 590 million U.S. dollars with 114 Chinese companies.

It is reported that the overseas roadshows for the second CIIE will be held in Australia, Indonesia, the United States, Panama, Brazil and other countries. (Edited by Hu Pingchao)
