Naghmana Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to China

On September 5, a premiere ceremony was held in Beijing for a documentary titled “The Pledge of Iron Brothers”. It pays tribute to the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China and tells of the time-honored friendship between the two countries.

“The entire Chinese nation is preparing to mark the momentous 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China,” said the new Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Naghmana Hashmi, in her speech at the ceremony. “I completely share the sentiment of jubilation in China: ‘Wo ye ai ni, Zhongguo!’ We have always stood together through thick and thin. China is our true friend and staunchest partner, and friendship with China is the cornerstone of our foreign policy.”

“This unique relationship continues to grow from strength to strength, guided by the consensus of our leaders and undeterred by regional and global developments,” said Ambassador Hashmi. “As an old friend of China, Pakistan shares the joy of our Chinese brothers and sisters at their phenomenal economic development and prosperity. We admire China's success in setting a new example for developing countries to forge their own development paths.”

“Following the historic visits of President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to Pakistan, the visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to China in 2018 has given new impetus to our efforts to enhance our all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and build a closer community of shared future for Pakistan and China in the new era,” she continued. “We profoundly appreciate China's consistent and unshakeable support to Pakistan on all our core issues of national interest. Likewise, Pakistan remains always ready to extend every possible support and assistance to our brethren from the great Chinese nation.”

“The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a landmark project that will transform the 21st century,” Hashmi emphasized. “We have always been amongst the first supporters of the Belt and Road. Likewise, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is the flagship project of the BRI. Through enhanced economic cooperation under the aegis of the BRI and CPEC, Pakistan is fully prepared to promote our shared goals of common prosperity, inclusive development, and peace and stability. We are fully confident that Pakistan and China will overcome any and all hindrances on the path to our shared goals through cooperation and concerted action.”

“Pakistan's strategic priorities include consolidation of the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership with China, peaceful relations with our neighbors, a stable Pakistan, and an effective and smooth implementation of CPEC,” said Hashmi. “As CPEC’s early-harvest phase successfully approaches its logical conclusion, both sides are now stepping up preparations for a new stage of higher-quality development. Pakistan is looking ahead to this new phase of socioeconomic cooperation, which will include industrial development, modernization of agriculture, poverty alleviation, low-cost housing, health care, education, vocational training, and access to clean water.”
