WUHAN, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- China has trained more than 60 cardiac intervention doctors from six countries along the Belt and Road since May, said a Chinese association official on Monday.

The doctors from countries such as Indonesia and Mauritius have received training at hospitals in cities like Beijing and Shanghai, said Liu Lu with China Cardiovascular Association.

The training program was approved by the health authorities last year to enhance medical technology in countries and regions along the Belt and Road.

The courses last from one week to three months. Others are six months to one year long.

More countries along the ancient Silk Road routes are expected to participate in the training program.

After 30 years of development in cardiac intervention, China's technology is close to international standards or even ahead in some aspects.
